I started out early in
life drawing on the walls of our house. My mother bought me art supplies and cheered
me on.
Art school wasn't for me. I took a few classes over the years but for
the most part I just did it.
Painting eggs with detailed
black and white designs was where I really got started at the age of 11 and
continued painting eggs until about age 22.
My father worked for
Douglas aircraft and that meant travel and living in Australia, Italy, Britain
and the U.S.A.
In 1975 I set out on my
own for San Francisco where I worked for another artist painting fabric that
was then quilted and turned into pillows and wall hangings. I also created
illustrations for a book titled, “The Pleasure of Pattern”.
In 1980 I moved to Lake
Tahoe and I started my own business creating wall hangings. I sold at various
craft fairs and eventually opened my own shop in the town of Portola, California.
In 1991 I moved to Maui,
Hawaii. I expanded my jewelry business selling hand painted ceramic jewelry.
On Maui I also began to
create art quilts. One of my quilts, “Paradise” was chosen for the Millennial Quilt
exhibition world in 2000.
I have been selected to show my work in the Art Maui
show 11 times where I sold quilts, jewelry and paintings.
Now it’s almost 2022 and I
am excited to have my new creations presented to the public for sale on the Art
Farm online gallery.
